A massive fire broke out at a car workshop in Kuala Lumpur yesterday evening, 23 November, engulfing the sky in thick black smoke

According to New Straits Times, a warehouse dealing in half-cut cars and used automotive parts in Taman Segambut was ablaze.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said they received a distress call regarding the fire at Suzuka Auto Parts at about 5.50pm and rushed to the scene.

By then, videos and photos of the huge fire were already circulating on social media.

Netizens and motorists driving past the scene said they could feel the intense heat from the inside of their cars.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department dispatched 83 firefighters from eight stations to put out the fire

The firefighters came from Jinjang, Sentul, Sri Hartamas, Hang Tuah, Titiwangsa, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Wangsa Maju, and Seputeh, reported Bernama.

As of 8.30pm last night, there were no casualties reported and efforts to put out the fire were still ongoing.

Operations commander Muhamad Ridhwan Kamarulzaman said the 40ft x 100ft warehouse was 90% burnt down.

The incident also reduced traffic along Jalan Kuching, Jalan Segambut, and Jalan Loke Yew to a crawl for hours

The fire occurred just as people were getting off work, further congesting the roads near the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) heading to Selayang.
