MOH Records 14 Heat-Related Cases In A Single Day Amid Heatwave Crisis
The Ministry of Health (MOH) anticipates a rise in the number of such cases during the hot weather conditions until August.
In light of the ongoing heatwave, the Ministry Of Health (MOH) documented a total of 14 heat-related illnesses last Friday, 12 May
According to Malay Mail, Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni said that out of the 14 cases, four were identified as heatstroke incidents, another four were attributed to heat exhaustion, and six cases were associated with heat cramps.
He explained that six cases were reported in Kelantan, five in Sarawak, and three in Sabah on Friday, with seven of the cases involving adults.
Lukanisman mentioned that out of the recorded cases, 13 victims have successfully recovered. Unfortunately, one victim, an 11-year-old boy, tragically passed away in Kelantan.
He added that the ministry anticipates a rise in the number of such cases during the hot weather conditions until August.

At the MOH level, the top leadership has taken necessary steps to deal with the prolonged hot weather and heatstroke cases
"MOH will cooperate with the Ministry of Communications and Digital to disseminate information via television and social media," Lakunisman told Bernama.
He explained that people's representatives are asked to play a role in spreading the word about the hot weather situation in the country.
"Currently, the situation is under control, and MOH facilities and hospitals are prepared to receive all cases such as heatstroke victims, and those suffering from heat cramps," he added.

He also advised parents to ensure that their kids have an adequate supply of water and make sure they do not take part in excessive sports.
"Paddy planters, farmers, and gardeners also need to be cautious during the hot weather; rest and drink enough water to avoid untoward incidents," he added.
