MOH: Sungai Buloh Hospital Forced To Store COVID-19 Corpses In Containers

Meanwhile, a doctor from Sungai Buloh Hospital noted that the intensive care unit (ICU) has reached full capacity.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that Sungai Buloh Hospital will be storing COVID-19 corpses in containers

On Sunday, 16 May, MOH wrote on Facebook, "The Sungai Buloh Forensic Medicine department is forced to provide special containers as additional storage spaces for the bodies of those who died from COVID-19."

They added that yesterday, six more deaths were reported at the hospital.

The ministry also noted the elderly group who have more than one chronic disease or comorbidity make up 80% of the COVID-19 deaths in the country

"Most of them were infected by close family members. If you live with members of the high-risk group, protect yourself in order to protect them," the post read.

As of yesterday, Malaysia has recorded a total of 1,902 deaths due to COVID-19.

In a tweet, Dr Azfar Kamal from the Sungai Buloh Hospital COVID-19 vaccination team wrote, "Dear beloved Malaysian citizens, please take care of yourselves ICU beds in Sungai Buloh Hospital are full."

"The emergency department has been converted into a semi-ICU. Wards are seeing rapid turnovers. Too many sick people. Many are dying. We have no other wings to place all these patients if the cases go up. Please, take care."
