"3rd World Mentality" – Woman's Video Shows Cars Running Red Light At Pedestrian Crossing
She also confirmed that the traffic light for the motorists were indeed working, but the drivers were blatantly ignoring it.
A woman was furious to experience first-hand how Malaysian motorists have no regard for pedestrian crossings while she was walking on the streets with her family in Kuala Lumpur
Taking to Facebook to relate her experience, the mother said they decided to walk from their hotel to Suria KLCC shopping centre.
"When we arrived at the pedestrian crossing, we were shocked when not a single car stopped even though the motorists' traffic light was red," she said.
"Luckily, the children didn't immediately run across the street."

She also caught a video of the incident, showing how motorists were zooming past them without slowing down, let alone stopping
In the video, when the pedestrian light turned green and she was about to cross the road with her children, a motorcycle sped right past them.
She exclaimed in surprise and frustration as other motorists continued to drive past, with no regard for the pedestrian crossing or traffic light, until all eight seconds for the pedestrians to cross were up.
"Welcome to KL," she wrote sarcastically, adding that they had confirmed that the traffic light for the motorists were indeed working, but the drivers were blatantly ignoring it.
Going beyond common courtesy to stop for pedestrians, motorists also go against the law, namely the Road Transport Act, when they do not stop at pedestrian crossings with traffic lights.
The video has since been widely shared across Facebook, with Malaysians sharing their disgust at the attitude of the motorists
"Third world mentality. Congratulations, Malaysia," commented a Facebook user.

"It only takes eight seconds to cross that road. There's less and less empathy now," said another.

Another user said, "Ya Allah, my mother always crosses this street to go to work. I pray my mum is always protected. This is so horrifying to watch."

Meanwhile, some netizens suggested placing boom barriers or speed bumps on the streets to force motorists to slow down.
"Place a boom barrier like at train crossings. No respect for zebra crossings at all. So sad," said a netizen.
