"My Family, My Love" – Najib Pours His Heart Out To Family As He Begins His Jail Sentence
"I chose work... Looking back, it was a huge sacrifice," the 69-year-old politician wrote.
Najib Razak left an emotional letter addressed to his family after the Federal Court affirmed his corruption conviction yesterday, 23 August, effectively starting his 12-year jail sentence
The note was also uploaded to his Facebook account, where the former prime minister expressed regret for not spending enough time with his loved ones due to work commitments.
"My years have gone by, dedicated to people, public service, and politics. A sacrifice I chose and I made," the 69-year-old politician wrote.
"A journey that was joyous with your presence but, unfortunately, I overlooked and could not always be there for you."

Najib said he had spent 46 years in politics and has made huge sacrifices, which at times saw him work from dusk till dawn
"From 1976, I became active full time in politics and public service. To this day, it has been 46 years. 46 years is a long time," he said.
He added that he had chosen to continue his late father Tun Abdul Razak Hussein's legacy of building the country.
He said the political world and public service had their pros and cons but the challenges brought him satisfaction, including charting the country's development, drawing up welfare policies, managing the economy, as well as strengthening bilateral ties with other countries.
However, that also meant being unable to join his family at home for dinners.
