Brutal Murder: Penang Uncle Selling Economy Rice Stabbed 27 Times By 2 Men

The assailants arrived on a motorcycle, carried out the act, and fled the scene.

In a shocking incident in Penang, an economy rice seller died after he was brutally stabbed in the car park of his apartment In Jelutong

The victim, 60-year-old Teh Teik Chye, was attacked by two unknown assailants, who stabbed him 27 times in his chest, neck, and abdomen yesterday, 5 December, according to a report by Harian Metro.

The assailants entered the car park on a motorcycle, carried out the act, and fled the scene.

The police were alerted at about 6pm after a resident found Teh's body lying in a pool of blood

Acting northeast district police chief Supt V Saravanan said the witness contacted the victim's next of kin and the police after finding Teh lying in the car park, reported The Star.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found the victim lying in a pool of blood. Teh succumbed to his injuries while en route to Penang Hospital, reported the New Straits Times.

The motive behind the attack remains uncertain, with the authorities saying it may have been a targeted attack and not a robbery.

"The cause of the incident is still being probed but we believe it had nothing to do with robbery as the victim's belongings are still intact. The victim is an economy rice seller at the Jalan Perak market. Based on the CCTV footage, the suspects' action is seen as wanting to kill the senior citizen," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
