The hosts clarified that they did not invite Hasli to gain popularity, but rather to educate the public about the consequences of immoral behaviour.

Popular local podcast hosts, who faced criticism for inviting 'Hot Daddy' to their show, have responded by emphasising that their intention was to raise awareness, not to endorse him

The hosts made this statement in response to criticism they faced for featuring images of Hasli Ikhwan Arif Zul Hasli, also known as 'Hot Daddy', on their show. Hasli was recently charged in court for selling videos of himself engaging in sexual activities with over 20 women.

"We shared the image several days ago, but the podcast has not been released. However, some assume that we support the man," Harian Metro quoted one of the hosts as saying.

"This misinformation led netizens to believe we endorse him, which is not the case. We do not condone any wrongdoing; rather, we actively oppose and deter such behaviour," he added.

He further emphasised that they invited Hasli to the show with the intention of educating the public, particularly the youth, rather than seeking popularity.

"Our youth are increasingly exposed to negative influences, particularly on platforms like Twitter, where moral values are frequently disregarded by those who proudly generate dark side content.

"[Hence], we highlight such issues to discourage people, particularly the younger generation, from engaging in such behaviour," said the host.

The host also urged those spreading false information to refrain from making assumptions without verification

The host also mentioned that they openly informed Hasli that his actions were wrong and that he needed to take responsibility for them.

"Throughout the conversation, there were various exchanges. Debates and discussions ensued between us and the guest," he said.

He also said, "While we 'hung out' with him, it doesn't imply our endorsement of his actions", in response to netizens' criticism of images of Hasli and the hosts playing video games.

Meanwhile, Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor said inviting 'Hot Daddy' as a podcast guest equates to normalising immoral behaviour

"If this situation is not controlled or prevented, it is feared that it will affect teenagers and lead them towards moral degradation," Harian Metro quoted him as saying.

Pahang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Rahman Osman also criticised Hasli's appearance as a guest on the show as it appeared to idolise him, which is inappropriate.

"We are commanded to engage in practices that seek the pleasure of Allah. Are we inviting him [Hasli] to encourage people to seek Allah's pleasure or to further spread inappropriate matters?" he asked.

Abdul Rahman also expressed hope that the hosts' decision to invite Hasli does not encourage inappropriate behaviour.

"I don't know what the consequences will be because [the podcast is not out] yet. We hope that the meeting will not promote inappropriate actions," he said.
