'Motorcycle Icon' Gets Fined For Driving Without A Licence In Kuala Lumpur

He was also fined for having a vehicle registration plate that did not comply with Road Transport Act 1987 specifications.

It was reported that a well-known social media 'influencer' was fined for driving without a licence during a police check on Jalan Raja Laut in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, 17 July

Photos of the driver being handed a summons notice by the police have been circulating on social media, receiving flak from netizens who have identified him as a 'motorcycle icon' online.

According to Harian Metro, the man in his 20s was driving an Audi when the police stopped him at about 11pm on Sunday.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim has since confirmed with the Malay daily that the police had issued a summons against the individual.

"As a result of an inspection, we found that the man involved did not have a driving licence and his vehicle registration number did not follow specifications," he said.

Police have taken action by issuing the man a summons for the two offences

Under Section 26(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, an individual must possess a valid driving licence to drive on the road, or face a fine of up to RM1,000, jailed for up to three months, or both.

Meanwhile, under Section 14(4) of the Road Transport Act, motorists must comply with specifications set regarding vehicle registration number plates, or face a fine of between RM300 and RM3,000.
