The police have opened an investigation paper after obscene videos and messages allegedly linked to a "well-known preacher" were exposed on Telegram recently
According to Malay Mail, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hassan said the investigation is being conducted under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for the soliciting and sharing of obscene content.

A check by SAYS found that the purported Telegram channel was made to gather evidence from victims who claimed they were sexually harassed by the preacher
The channel contains incriminating videos of a man masturbating, screenshots of online exchanges showing a man sending obscene texts and photos of his genitals, as well as police reports about the unwelcomed incidents.
The alleged victims reported that they were emotionally disturbed and angry that the preacher used his religious authority to harass and take advantage of them.

The CID director assured that decisive action will be taken without compromise against any individual who intentionally threatens public order and safety
"Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) also advises the public to be smart, prudent, and not to use [social media] so as to bring public outrage, undermine national harmony, and jeopardise investigations," Abdul Jalil said in a statement on Thursday, 23 September, as quoted by Malay Mail.
He also urged anyone with information on the case to contact Classified Criminal Investigation Unit head Supt Junainah M Kasbolah, or investigating officer Inspector Mohd Khabir Mohd Afandi, at +603-22666071.
