Fire At Burst Pipeline Opens 'Portal To Hell' In The Middle Of The Ocean

The fire was caused by gas leak from underwater pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico.

The seemingly "portal to hell" opened up after a rupture in an undersea gas pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico early on Friday, 2 July

It sent bright orange flames of fire to the ocean surface

It took fire-fighting boats more than five hours to put out the fire

According to a report in Reuters, the fire on the ocean surface west of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula has now been extinguished after more than five hours of fire-fighting boats spraying more water on the flame.

The fire began in an underwater pipeline that connects to a platform at Mexico's state-owned oil company Pemex's flagship Ku Maloob Zaap oil development, the Reuters report said.
