Yesterday, 14 March, Economic Affairds Minister Mohd Rafizi Ramli declared that he and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim do not partake in the consumption of marijuana

According to Free Malaysia Today, Rafizi made the declaration when he was questioned about the police seizing a delivery package containing a tube of marijuana-laced toothpaste addressed to two politicians at a courier hub located at Pulau Meranti, Sepang, on Friday, 10 March.

The Pandan member of parliament (MP) also confirmed that neither he nor Anwar were the ones responsible for buying the product.

On the parcel, Rafizi and Anwar's name, as well as the address of the Economic Minister's office, was seen on the shipping label.

"I don't know (who sent it). It was sent to the office and I didn't open it myself as it was addressed to the Prime Minister and myself," Rafizi said to reporters.

"None of us take weed, so I think it was a waste," he jokingly added.

According to Sepang district police chief ACP Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, the item was first intercepted by an officer who worked at the inquiry office of the ministry. The officer proceeded to lodge a police report after suspecting the parcel contained prohibited items.

The product was believed to have been purchased by the sender with an address in Indonesia through an online platform.

Investigations by the Narcotics Division have been launched under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for the possession of raw opium, coca leaves, poppy straw, and cannabis, reported the Malay Mail.
