Boy Drowns In Pahang Hotel Swimming Pool While His Guardian Was Busy On The Phone

An 11-year-old boy was found drowned in a hotel swimming pool in Temerloh, Pahang on Monday, 13 March, while his guardian was busy on his phone
According to Bernama, Temerloh district police chief ACP Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusoff said the 4.45pm incident happened when the boy was taken to the hotel swimming pool in Mentakab by his mother's 41-year-old boyfriend.
"The victim was said to have disappeared from the sight of his mother's boyfriend, who was busy checking his phone. When the man realised the boy had gone missing, he sought the help of a security guard to look for the victim, who was later found unconscious at the bottom of the 2m-deep swimming pool," said Mohd Azhar.
The boy was moved to the poolside and given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
He was also rushed to Mentakab Health Clinic, but was pronounced dead there, reported Bernama.
His body was taken to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh for a post-mortem, said the Temerloh district police chief.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglecting, abandoning, or exposing a child in a manner likely to cause them physical or emotional injury.
If convicted, the man could face a fine not exceeding RM20,000, imprisonment for up to 10 years, or both.
