A recent post made by a Singaporean man to a community Facebook page has gone viral after he found what seems to be a dead insect on a popular snack item

The Facebook user, who goes by Muhammad Haiqal, took to the community Facebook group, COMPLAINT SINGAPORE, on 9 February to share his experience after buying a packet of Hup Seng cream crackers.

"Halfway eating, dipping my biscuits into my tea, and [I was] about to dip my next one when I saw something abnormal sticking out," his post began.

Saying that he initially thought it was ink, a closer look of the item led the man to believe that it was the dried up remains of a cockroach laid flat on the biscuit. "What I normally eat as breakfast every day [has become] something I will never eat forever," he wrote.

Garnering widespread attention for the post, Haiqal also attached photos to his post, showing the biscuit with the alleged cockroach residue.

In the comments section of the post, Haiqal informed other responders to the post that he had purchased the crackers from a minimart in Rivervale, Sengkang, Singapore

Haiqal also added that after he discovered the residue, he immediately threw the entire packet of cream crackers away. Among the pictures attached, Haiqal also added a picture of the expiry date of the packet, which was labelled 10 December 2023.

We have comprehensive quality control measures in place to ensure that our products meet the highest standard of quality and safety," read the statement.

The company continued on by issuing an apology for the matter.

"We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. We will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and satisfaction of our valued customers," they added.
