Social Media Users Report Tremors Felt In KL & PJ Due To Quake In Indonesia

International sources are reporting a 6.2 magnitude earthquake from West Sumatra, Indonesia.

Malaysians, particularly those living in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, are reporting on social media that they felt tremors at around 9.45am this Friday morning, 25 February

Emotions were running high as many took to social media to confirm the situation.

Twitter user @cookiemonstaly asked, "So it wasn't just me who felt those tremors, right? Was that an earthquake?"

Meanwhile on Facebook, a Cyberjaya Community page also questioned, "Anyone felt the earthquake?"

In the replies, several netizens reported that they felt the tremors too, lasting a few seconds, and many felt and saw their furniture moving.

Some also felt the sensation from Singapore.

"Felt it while sitting on my bed. I thought it was my vertigo attack but it was too short," said a Facebook user.

"Yes, I felt it too. I thought my house gonna collapse," said another.

"I woke up from sleep as I thought my housemate was shaking my bed," someone else commented on Twitter.

As of writing, international sources are reporting a 6.2 magnitude earthquake from West Sumatra, Indonesia

According to Volcano Discovery, an earthquake with an epicentre 28km from Pasaman Regency in West Sumatra occurred at exactly 9.39am.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has also confirmed the event, adding that while tremors were felt around Selangor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor, there is no threat of a tsunami in Malaysia.
