Earlier on Saturday, 10 July, a man allegedly stabbed his wife to death before taking his own life at their house in Taman Kimsar, Perai
According to Penang CID chief Rahimi Mohd Ra'ais, the couple's bodies were discovered by their 28-year-old son, who called the police at about 3pm to inform about the matter.
Rahimi said that police are looking at possible jealousy as the motive behind the husband's action.
The body of the wife, aged 54, was found with three stab wounds
She was stabbed in her neck, chest, and stomach.
"Her 65-year-old husband's body was found hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen," Rahimi said, adding that the bodies have since been sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem.
Rahimi said a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the scene.

While initial investigations point towards the possibility of the murder-suicide, a further investigation into the case is ongoing
"We believed the couple had some misunderstanding before they were found dead," The Star quoted Rahimi as saying.
"The couple was not working, and according to their son, the couple's children are the ones taking care of their parents. The children live nearby," he told New Straits Times.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
