Last week, a kindergarten teacher in China was fired after punishing two kids for refusing to take their afternoon nap

According to Next Shark, the children, a boy and a girl, decided to play instead of taking their nap, disturbing the rest of their classmates.

The kindergarten teacher then punished the duo by making them stand under the sun.

The incident took place at Da Feng Che kindergarten in Zhangzhou, Fujian province on 19 June.

A video of the incident was recorded and uploaded online

The video showed the boy lying down on a mat and pillow while the girl just stood watching him.

The temperature during that afternoon was reported to be at 33-degree Celcius.

The video went viral, sparking a massive outrage on social media

According to Next Shark, the unidentified teacher received public backlash for her action.

Some of the comments were:

“Let this teacher try one afternoon, too.”

“If you don’t have the patience for it, don’t bother being a kindergarten teacher.”

“This teacher has mental issues. I recommend sending this person straight to a facility.”

“Adults can’t even stand this hot weather and you actually let children lie there to sleep? How vile.”

Following the incident, the kindergarten teacher was fired the next day

South China Morning Post also reported that the city government ordered the closure of the private pre-school.

In China, afternoon naps are a common practice at preschools to ensure that the children will have enough energy for the rest of the day.
