This year, nine new airline companies, including Really Cool Airlines, are set to commence operations in Thailand

Patee Sarasin, the chief executive officer of Really Cool Airlines, announced last year that the new airline will focus on routes in Asia for its first two years, with flights to Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shanghai starting from March 2024.

The former CEO of Nok Air stated that European countries will be added to that list by 2025.

"We would not compete with Thai Airways International on their regular routes but would focus on flights to secondary cities, which would also help further promote Thailand's tourism industry," said Patee.

Other airlines to debut this year are Pattaya Airways, Asian Aerospace Services, Avanti Air Charter, Siam Seaplane, M-Landarch, Bangkok Helicopter Services, P80 Air, and Asia Atlantic Airlines

According to The Nation, these nine new airlines will focus on regional and domestic routes, while some will operate international flights.

Overall, they are expected to expand capacity in the Thai aviation market and help boost tourism.

Bloomberg reported that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand has granted the new airline companies permission to import a total of 60 aircraft.

In 2023, Thailand experienced an influx of tourists, totaling 28 million foreign visitors from around the world

Among them, Malaysians were the most frequent travellers, accounting for 4.56 million visits, followed by the Chinese (3.51 million), South Koreans (1.65 million), Indians (1.62 million), and Russians (1.48 million).

The country anticipates an increase to 35 million visitors this year, reflecting a positive outlook for tourism.
