"They Burned My Son Alive" – Mum Decries 6 Men For Hurting Her Son Over Missing RM100

His mother, 50-year-old Anisah Takzim, told Harian Metro that she was shocked to see her son in such a condition.

"He came home at around 3am screaming in pain. I saw pieces of his burnt shirt sticking to his body," she recalled.

"He told me he was set on fire and he tried to put out the fire by rolling on the ground."

According to Sinar Harian, Kemaman district chief police Supt Hanyan Ramlan said that the boy suffered burns from his neck to the back of his body.

"Initial investigations found that the boy was splashed with oil before being set alight, resulting in burn marks on his body," said Hanyan.

"The incident is believed to have happened because the boy's friends accused him of stealing RM100."

The men were aged between 18 and 28. Three of them were factory workers, and the rest were unemployed, reported Bernama.

The suspects were arrested at several locations in Kemaman on 22 and 23 July.

"Urine screening tests found that all six men tested negative for drugs," said Hanyan.

However, he said that a 28-year-old man amongst the six had a previous record related to drugs.

The six men will be remanded for five days until Thursday, 28 July.

Anisah told Harian Metro that she knows her son is mischievous and would acknowledge it if he had truly done wrong.

"If he is guilty, then take him to the police. We have laws. Don't treat my son cruelly," Anisah said.

"They burned my son alive. I am sad and can not accept it. I didn't think there were still people as cruel to do such things."

Her son suffered 40% burns on his neck and back and is currently being treated at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan, Pahang.

He is in stable condition, but Anisah said that the burn marks will permanently disfigure her son.
