A Singaporean pilot surprised his parents onboard a plane they were flying by making an announcement

Raphael Leong had heard that his parents were flying back to Singapore from Vietnam after spending their holiday in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Mashable, the 36-year-old took the opportunity to swap shifts with his colleague to fly the plane his parents were boarding.

In the video, Raphael can be seen using the phone to welcome the passengers onboard the flight

He then announced that the JetStar Asia Flight 3K558 back to Singapore was a special flight to him as his parents were flying the plane he would be piloting.

"This is the first time in my life that they will be on a flight that I'll be flying. I don't know if they know it yet but... Hi Pa! Hi Mom!" he said in the touching video.

"Surprise! I love you," he added.

At the time of his announcement, Raphael's mother was actually in the plane's lavatory

"I was expecting her (his mother) to be like... 'Hey, yeah!' But I just saw my dad waving," Raphael said.

Thankfully, his mother Rosalind was ecstatic as she could hear her son's voice over the speakers in the toilet.
