Seven vehicles were involved in a fatal accident at KM277.1 of the North-South Expressway near Ipoh, Perak, yesterday afternoon, 13 July
According to New Straits Times, the accident happened when a trailer rammed into a Proton Persona, and consequently, five other vehicles.
The driver of the Proton Persona and its three passengers were pinned to their seats due to the impact and pronounced dead at the scene by a medical team.
The victims of the accident were a retired policeman Rahim Ramli, 60; his wife, Siti Petimah Omar, 59; and their two daughters, Nor Hadirah, 28, and Nor Hamizah, 27.
The accident is believed to have happened because the 34-year-old trailer driver dozed off while driving.

Further investigation revealed that the trailer driver from Rawang, Selangor, had 13 traffic summons, with three of them involving road accident cases
Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid told New Straits Times that they also did a urine test on the driver, which came out negative.
"We have detained the trailer driver and he will be remanded today (14 July) for further investigations," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1957 for causing death by reckless driving.
The tragedy has left two of the youngest children of Rahim Ramli and Siti Petimah Omar mourning for the loss of four loved ones
The family's youngest child, 20-year-old Muhamad Hazman, who is doing his internship at a company in Perlis, told Harian Metro that he received the dreadful news while he was at work from his last remaining sibling, 22-year-old Noor Fatini.
It is believed that the family had recently gone on a vacation together.
"I kissed my parents' hands before I went back to Perlis just yesterday, and told them I would meet them again soon. They only replied with a smile. Today they are gone. I don't know what to say," said Hazman.

"[It's] sad because they left all at once. Not just one, or two, or three of them, but four of them gone [and] I'm speechless," Hazman said tearfully.
A sad atmosphere enveloped the burial location of the family as soon as the bodies arrived for their burial.
The four victims were laid to rest at around 3am today.
