"Needed To See For Myself" – Transport Minister Visits LRT To Observe Issues On First Day
Transport Minister Anthony Loke also promised to hold a meeting with Prasarana this week to address concerns.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke spent his first day back on the job visiting various LRT stations around Kuala Lumpur during peak hour on Monday, 5 December
In a Facebook post, the DAP secretary-general said he went to visit a few LRT stations and took a train to better understand what daily commuters go through.
"This evening, I spent two hours riding the LRT along its Kelana Jaya Line route between 5pm and 7pm, to see for myself what it's like to use the service during peak hours," he wrote.
"I found that the trains were very packed with people, and this surely is an uncomfortable experience for commuters."

The newly-appointed Cabinet minister added that he purposely did not inform the public transport management of his trip, so that he could observe the issues on his own
"I did not inform Prasarana's management or the media because I wanted to experience and understand for myself what ordinary passengers feel and go through every day," he said.
In the post, Loke shared photos of himself casually dressed, while sporting a black cap and face mask, to blend into the crowd.
He also shared photos noting common complaints at LRT stations, such as nonfunctional escalators, leaking roofs, and dark walkways.

After the visit, Loke said he better understood the difficulties faced by LRT commuters and would hold a meeting with Prasarana as soon as possible to address these concerns
"I will hold a meeting with Prasarana's top management this week to discuss ways and directions to improve our public transport services," he promised.
The Seremban MP first held the transport minister post in 2018, during which he also used to carry out impromptu spot checks of the city's public transport systems.
