[VIDEO] Drowsy Lorry Driver Swerves Uncontrollably On NKVE Before Toppling Sideways

Acting Shah Alam district police chief Supt Ramsay Anak Embol told Berita Harian that the incident took place at KM10.9 of the NKVE at around 8:30am yesterday, 23 September.

He said, "Preliminary investigation found the lorry travelling towards Subang was driven by a 33-year-old man who suddenly lost control because he is believed to have fallen asleep and failed to control the vehicle until it skidded."

The video was originally posted by a Facebook profile under the name 'Bakti Kebokta'.

The user wrote, "Alhamdulillah, Allah still loves me and gave me another chance. This morning's incident before the exit to Shah Alam. It felt like my heart was yanked out while pressing on the brakes of my motorcycle. Be careful while on the road, everyone."

The clip showed a dark blue lorry swerving violently on the expressway before tumbling and flipping sideways.

According to Ramsay, there was a motorcycle headed in the same direction as the lorry that rammed into the heavy vehicle but the rider only suffered minor injuries.

He elaborated that the motorcycle rider failed to avoid the lorry in time, causing him to crash into it.

The suspect will be brought to court today for a remand application for an offence under Section 15(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 by the Shah Alam Narcotics Division, said Ramsay.

He added that as for traffic offences, the case is being investigated under Section 45 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs.

Ramsay also told Berita Harian, "Witnesses or members of the public with information are asked to assist in the investigation by contacting the Investigating Officer of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Shah Alam district police headquarters, Insp Muhammad Hasrul Suhiami at +6011-31215697."
