The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department has since quickly put out the fire

The Fire and Rescue Department said two fire engines and 11 firefighters were dispatched to the scene upon receiving an emergency call at around 2.12pm today.

"The fire eventually extinguished itself. At the same time, five fire sprinklers broke due to the heat generated by the fire," the department said in a statement.

No loss of life or injuries were reported due to the incident.

The department added that the thick smoke seen by the public was due to the fumes escaping through the mall's chimneys from the restaurant's kitchen.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur also confirmed that no one was hurt from the incident and that the shopping mall remains open for business

The mall also said their operations and safety department is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

They assured that they will continue to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and health of all of its patrons.
