[VIDEO] Workers Cling On For Dear Life As Strong Winds Thrash Gondola Around Tower In KL

Footage of the incident at TS Law Tower on Jalan Kemuning, Kuala Lumpur went viral on social media as soon as it occurred.

Videos show the gondola swinging dangerously away from the building and even repeatedly smashing and breaking several glass windows.

The workers can be seen clinging on for dear life to the platform's rails.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations centre commander Junain Bahau, who confirmed the incident, said the victims managed to save themselves by the time they received the distress call.

"When we arrived at the scene after receiving information from a representative of the construction site, the victims on the gondola had already managed to save themselves," he said, as quoted by The Star.

"There was no action from the Bomba team at the scene."

"This is terrifying," said a Twitter user.

"Why were they working during such conditions?" questioned another.

Someone also asked, "Do [occupational safety and health procedures] need to be reviewed? Worrying trend of strong winds recently."

Meanwhile, on Facebook, a netizen said, "For construction work outdoors, it is best to look at the weather [before going out], Malaysia's weather is not like before, we have to be careful. The next time something like this happens, people might not be so lucky."
