A woman was fined RM2,500 after she pleaded guilty to unintentionally causing the death of a senior citizen in front of a supermarket in Klebang, Ipoh on 25 October

According to the New Straits Times, the accused, Siti Nuridah Jumli, 24, along with another accomplice who remains at large, caused the death of 64-year-old Abd Kamar Mat at the entrance of the Econsave Klebang supermarket.

The incident occurred between 4.20pm and 5.30pm on 25 October, when the two slapped the victim on the side of his face and the back, which led to his death.

The offence falls under Section 304A of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of two years' jail, a fine, or both.

Magistrate Siti Nora Sharif fined Siti RM2,500 and ordered two months' imprisonment if the fine is not paid.

The medical report on the victim indicated that he had a heart condition but was not under any treatment

According to a statement from the Ipoh district police, they received a report from a witness at about 6.13pm on the day of the incident.

The victim was found unconscious, lying at the entrance of the supermarket with no signs of injury.

District police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said there were witnesses and CCTV footage indicating that the accused and the other suspect attacked the man without any intent to kill.

The case, initially investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, was reclassified to Section 304A for causing death without intent

"We can't connect the cause of death directly to a heart attack, but we are focusing on the physical assault inflicted on the deceased," Abang Zainal said.

The motive of the incident is believed to have stemmed from a dispute, as the victim was said to have frequently harassed the female suspect in an attempt to woo her, reported Harian Metro.
