Faisal Halim Was Splashed With Highly Corrosive Concentrated Sulphuric Acid
It reacts rapidly when it comes into contact with the skin and can cause long-term tissue damage.
Faisal Halim, who is in critical condition after an acid attack, was reportedly splashed with highly corrosive concentrated sulphuric acid
This was disclosed by Selangor Football Club chief executive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon today, 7 May, during his visit to the private hospital in Shah Alam where the Harimau Malaya winger is admitted.
Johan said that doctors will use a special medication from Australia to help heal Faisal's burns that have affected his movement and speech due to the acid's effect on parts of his face.
"His injuries are quite severe and serious. He is conscious but his body is in very bad shape. The acid that was splashed at Faisal was concentrated sulphuric acid," Harian Metro quoted him as saying.
Johan himself has received a threat that he would be the next target of an acid attack.
The New Straits Times reported that a Selangor FC official had received a call from an unidentified source saying Johan should exercise caution against a potential acid assault.

The health condition of Faisal, who was assaulted by two men on a motorcycle at the parking lot of a shopping mall in Kota Damansara on Sunday, 5 May, is increasingly worrying after undergoing surgery.
Earlier today, Selangor Football Association (FAS) deputy president Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said doctors, after initially believing Faisal suffered second-degree burns, diagnosed them as fourth-degree burns.
