National Diver Ooi Tze Liang Wins Malaysia's 3rd Gold Medal At The SEA Games

Divers Wendy Ng Yan Yee and Ong Kee Ying also bagged the gold medal at the women's 3m synchronised springboard event.

National diver Ooi Tze Liang claimed the third gold medal for Malaysia after besting Singapore's Avvir Tham at the men's 1m springboard individual event at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games

Ooi's win today, 9 May, marks his second gold medal for the country at the biennial Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam this year, reported New Straits Times.

The 28-year-old amassed 377.70 points over six dives, defeating Avvir by 90 points.

Yesterday, 8 May, Ooi won the second gold medal for Malaysia in the men's 3m synchronised springboard event with his partner Chew Yi Wei

The victory meant that Ooi and Chew defended the gold they won at the 2019 Games in the Philippines.

With his latest win, the Penang-born has now completed a full collection of gold medals in all five diving events in the SEA Games, reported New Straits Times.

Prior to the Hanoi SEA Games, the 1m springboard individual event was the only gold that Ooi had not won.

Since his debut in 2011, he has won the 3m springboard individual event and the 3m springboard synchronised event four times each.

He also won twice in the 10m plattform individual event and once in the 10m platform synchronised event.

Meanwhile, Wendy Ng Yan Yee and Ong Kee Ying also bagged the gold medal at the women's 3m synchronised springboard event

Malaysia has collected five medals at the SEA Games so far ahead of its official opening ceremony, which is slated for Thursday, 12 May.
