National sailor Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif has bagged Malaysia's first gold medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China
According to New Straits Times, Nur Shazrin won by default after Race 12 of the women's single dinghy event (ILCA) was canceled due to poor wind conditions at the Ningbo Xiangshan Sailing Centre today, 27 September.
Hong Kong's Stephanie Louise Norton and Singapore's Victoria Chan finished second and third respectively.
The win is Nur Shazrin's first gold medal at the Asian Games after her bronze feat at the 18th edition of the Games in Jakarta and Palembang in 2018.
On top of the honour, the 25-year-old has also qualified for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
