Apple has released an image editing AI model called MGIE that can edit images by interpreting text commands

It is said that MGIE uses multimodal large language models (MLLMs) to interpret text commands to manipulate images.

Lowyat.net reported that Apple's AI model excels at turning simple or unclear text prompts into clear instructions, which helps with communication in the photo editing process.

According to The Verge, you can try MGIE on GitHub or through a demo on Hugging Face Spaces.

Besides advanced image alterations, users can also use MGIE to do basic photo-editing

MGIE allows users to crop, resize, and rotate images, as well as adjust brightness, contrast, and colour balance, just by using text commands.

Additionally, users can also modify details of a picture like hair, eyes, or clothes, and even remove backgrounds.

However, it is reported that MGIE is still in its infancy stages, and is not expected to be integrated into Apple devices anytime soon. Apple has not announced its plans for the AI model beyond research.
