Google has unveiled new location controls for Maps
It's designed to offer greater control your data, allowing you to decide what to save and where.

You now have the option to save your Timeline directly to your device
The Timeline feature is designed to ensure that data of the places you've been to is kept private.
All you have to do is to turn on Location History because it's turned off by default.
Your data is automatically deleted after three months in the Location History
However, you have the option to disable auto-delete and Location History.

By clicking on the blue dot on your map, Google Maps allows you to access the Location History and Timeline with ease
This shortcut lets you manage the information shared with and stored on Google Maps without having to navigate through your settings.
