Polish Company Appoints AI-Powered Robot As CEO
First CEO to work around the clock, every day of the month.
In what may be a world's first, Polish rum company Dictador has appointed an AI-powered humanoid robot to helm the company
This is the culmination of an unusual project, called Mika, a collaboration between Hanson Robotics and Dictador.
Hanson Robotics is a Hong Kong-based engineering and robotics company, known for its development of human-like robots with artificial intelligence for consumer, entertainment, service, healthcare, and research applications.
Dictador released a video on YouTube showcasing Mika's capability as a decision-maker
"I don't really have weekends — I'm always on 24/7, ready to make executive decisions and stir up some AI magic," Mika said during a video interview with Reuters recently.
"My decision-making process relies on extensive data analysis and aligning with the company's strategic objectives," it said.
Mika added that it is devoid of personal bias, ensuring strategic choices that prioritise the organisation's best interests.
Hanson Robotics CEO, David Hanson, highlighted the importance of humanising AI
"I feel very strongly that we need to teach AI to care about people for AI to be really safe, to be really, really good. I think humanising that is a very important direction," said Hanson.
Hanson is the person responsible for introducing Mika to Dictador.
Surveys were also conducted on the streets of New York City to gauge the public's opinion about having a robot boss
The responses were diverse, with some individuals indicating a readiness to show empathy towards a robot CEO. They also felt that compassion should be extended to any entity capable of thinking.
On the flip side, at least one respondent who argued that robots do not deserve respect because they are merely machines.
A prevalent viewpoint among those interviewed was the belief that AI would eventually replace human employment. Several individuals even expressed their reluctance to be employed under the authority of an AI boss.
Mika is actually a more sophisticated version of her 'sister prototype', Sophia
Sophia's primary function is to make meaningful, emotional connections with humans. In fact, she once taught children as a STEM teacher in 2022, as seen in the video above.
However, when compared to services like ChatGPT and BARD AI, Sophia's conversational skills are relatively less advanced. Nonetheless, she boasts a physical form capable of movement and a facial appearance that closely resembles that of a human.
