YouTube videos that feature realistic-looking "synthetic" content will soon require labels
YouTube product management vice presidents, Emily Moxley and Jennifer Flannery O’Connor, emphasised the importance of disclosure, especially in sensitive topics such as elections or public health crises.
“We’ll make it possible to request the removal of AI-generated or other synthetic or manipulated content that simulates an identifiable individual, including their face or voice," they said in a blog post.
These new rules will take effect in the coming months
YouTube users who fail to comply with disclosure rules may face consequences such has having their content removed or their profiles suspended from YouTube's ad revenue-sharing programme.
Music partners will also have the ability to request the removal of AI-generated music mimicking artists' unique voices.
