What We Know So Far About The Woman’s Body Found In A Suitcase In Selangor

The victim's identity has not been disclosed as police investigate the murder.

A murder investigation is underway after the body of a woman was discovered stuffed inside a suitcase at a rented apartment in Kajang, Selangor

The grim discovery was made on Sunday night, 28 June, after the property's owner went to inspect the unit when he was unable to contact his tenants.

According to the homeowner, who requested anonymity, he had repeatedly tried to call his tenant but received no response, the New Straits Times reported.

Concerned, he went to the apartment in Taman Impian Indah. As soon as he entered, he noticed a foul smell emanating from inside the unit.

Here's what we know so far:

1. The apartment was reportedly left in a filthy condition

The homeowner said the apartment appeared to have been poorly maintained, with sewage stains and an overpowering stench throughout the house.

While inspecting the living room, he noticed a large cardboard box filled with clothes and fabric.

He also saw liquid leaking from the box.

2. A suitcase was hidden inside the box

When the homeowner looked inside the cardboard box, he found a large suitcase concealed beneath the clothing.

He said the suitcase was unusually heavy, swollen, and difficult to unzip.

Fearing something was amiss, he immediately contacted the police.

3. Police found the body of a woman inside

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said police received a report about the discovery at 8.37pm yesterday.

Officers and forensic personnel were dispatched to the apartment, where they found the body of a woman inside the suitcase.

4. The victim is believed to be a foreign national

The homeowner said the female tenant who rented the apartment about three months ago was believed to be a Nepalese national and had been living there with a man.

He also claimed that the pair had frequently paid their rent late.

Police have not officially confirmed the victim's identity.

5. Police are investigating the case as a murder

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Police are appealing to anyone with information related to the case to contact investigating officer senior assistant Supt Nur Ayuni Aziz at 016-208 0717 or call the 999 emergency hotline to assist in the investigation.
