After a sold-out run in 2024, the classic Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker, is returning to KL for a magical one-night performance
The Saint Petersburg National Ballet Theatre will bring its production of the beloved ballet to KLCC Plenary Hall on 11 December.

Based on E.T.A. Hoffmann's classic fairy tale, The Nutcracker follows young Masha on Christmas Eve after she receives a wooden Nutcracker as a gift.
When the clock strikes midnight, her ordinary Christmas night turns into a magical adventure, complete with a towering Christmas tree, toys coming to life, a battle between good and evil, and a journey into a fantastical kingdom.
The production features Tchaikovsky's iconic score, alongside elaborate sets and costumes that bring the story to life on stage.
The Saint Petersburg National Ballet Theatre is bringing around 40 dancers to KL, along with full-size costumes and grand sets
The company performs in the Vaganova tradition, the Russian ballet style associated with the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg, and its main stage is the historic Hermitage Theatre.
The KL performance will also feature soloists Oksana Bondareva, who has performed with the Mariinsky Theatre, and Ivan Sitnikov, also of the Mariinsky.
The company says it has staged more than 5,000 performances across over 45 countries.

You don't need to be a ballet expert to enjoy The Nutcracker
With its familiar Christmas setting, dramatic storytelling, and Tchaikovsky's instantly recognisable music, the production could make for a festive night out with the family, a date night, or even a first ballet experience for younger audiences.
The KL performance is also part of the company's ASEAN Tour 2026, which includes stops in Singapore, Manila, Bangkok, and Jakarta.
