Malaysians Can Visit 19 National Museums For Free Today

The free admission is happening in conjunction with International Museum Day 2026.

Malaysians can enjoy free entry to all 19 museums under the Department of Museums Malaysia today, 18 May, to celebrate International Museum Day 2026

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the initiative aims to encourage more people, especially younger Malaysians, to visit museums and gain a deeper appreciation for the country's history, culture, and heritage.

He said the effort also aims to highlight museums as important spaces for education, unity, and nation-building.

Aaron recently announced the initiative during the Central Zone Unity Week 2026 celebration held at Muzium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, according to Bernama.

The museums offering free admission are:

  • Muzium Negara / National Museum
  • National Textile Museum
  • Malay World Ethnology Museum
  • Orang Asli Crafts Museum
  • National Automobile Museum
  • Lembah Bujang Archaeological Museum
  • Perak Museum
  • Music Museum
  • Malaysia Architectural Museum
  • Matang Museum
  • Kota Kuala Kedah Museum
  • Kota Kayang Museum
  • Kota Johor Lama Museum
  • Labuan Museum
  • Labuan Marine Museum
  • Chimney Museum
  • Sungai Lembing Museum
  • Custom Museum
  • Lukut Museum

Aaron also said his ministry, through the Department of Museums Malaysia and in collaboration with the Johor Heritage Foundation, will organise the International Museum Day 2026 celebration in Johor from 23 to 30 June.

According to him, the event will continue promoting museums as centres for education, heritage preservation, and social unity among Malaysians from different cultural backgrounds.
