It is set to begin filming this December and will be released in July 2020, in conjunction with Dr Mahathir's 95th birthday.
The movie will also feature some untold events of Dr Mahathir's perjuangan (struggles) to get re-elected as the seventh Prime Minister
Directed by Dr Hatta Azad Khan, who is known for directing 'Wayang' and 'Kembar Siang', the movie will be made on a RM6 million budget, reported Berita Harian.
"We conducted a seven-month study to uncover the story of Tun's struggles," said producer Yusof Kelana.
"(The movie) is inspired by true stories. Some parts will unfold the events following Tun's resignation in 2003. Some parts will unfold events that were never known to the general public.
"The movie script has received 100% approval from the Prime Minister's Office. In fact, Tun's special agent, Sufi Yusof, went through the dialogue and the scenes to ensure that no facts were wrong."
29 prominent Malaysian figures will be cast in the movie
Other than Dr Mahathir and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s characters, the movie will also feature:
- Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir,
- Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir,
