A recent tweet showing videos of alleged The Amazing Race contestants making their way through Penang while being followed by a cameraman has gone viral

Twitter user @_mlikr posted videos of two groups of contestants walking briskly while carrying backpacks with what appear to look like The Amazing Race tags attached to them.

In a video, one of the pairs is seen holding the competition's instructions and even a Roadblock leaflet, which contains a task that contestants are required to perform on the show.

The caption reads, "New season of Amazing Race will include Malaysia", with the Twitter user confirming with SAYS that the videos were taken in Penang.

One eagle-eyed person noticed that the first pair of contestants in the video are Australian Commonwealth gold medallist Jana Pittman and her son, Cornelius Rowlinson, who are taking part in the upcoming season of The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition.

According to an Australian weekly magazine, New Idea, the upcoming season for The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition started filming in early May and June this year.

Although it's not stated when the series will come out, we can presume that it will air in late August or early September this year.

This isn't the first time the reality television series has filmed in Malaysia

The Amazing Race: Asia Season 1 Episode 1 (2006) filmed in Kuala Lumpur, where 10 teams competed by travelling by taxi to Berjaya Times Square and had to complete several tasks along the way.

In episode 13, the teams also headed to Kuching, Sarawak. Malaysian duo Joe Jer and Zabrina went on to win the entire competition for that season.

It's uncertain if the contestants are still filming in Malaysia, but if you happen to spot them, be sure to cheer them on!
