Malaysia's longest-running music awards ceremony is heading to Kuching this September!
The 25th edition of Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM25) will take place in Sarawak's capital for the first time since the awards were introduced in 1993, marking a milestone for both the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) and the local music industry.
TVS has also been named the official broadcaster and co-organiser of AIM25, bringing the awards ceremony to viewers nationwide through television, digital platforms, and its streaming service, TVS Inspire.
The event is supported by the Communications Ministry through a RM950,000 Recognition Fund and the Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Ministry.
To mark its silver jubilee, the awards is introducing two new categories: Best Borneo Song and Best Festive Song
The Best Borneo Song category will acknowledge musical works originating from Sabah and Sarawak, while the Best Festive Song category will recognise music associated with Malaysia's multicultural celebrations.
TVS says the partnership reflects its growing national reach
Since launching in 2020, TVS has grown into one of Malaysia's fastest-growing free-to-air TV stations and remains the country's only broadcaster delivering news in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Iban, and Mandarin.
Chief Media Officer Mohamad Sardon Zainal said hosting AIM25 in Kuching will be hugely significant for both the broadcaster and Sarawak.
"When AIM chooses to celebrate its Silver Jubilee in Kuching for the first time, it is not just an honour, but a recognition that the voice from Sarawak has now also become the voice of Malaysia," he said.
He added that the collaboration would also help introduce local artists to a wider audience through TV, digital platforms and TVS Inspire.
Leading up to the event, viewers can catch a build-up series on TVS
The 13-episode series titled Hits 122 Edisi AIM25 will begin airing on 25 July, every Saturday at 8.30pm on TVS Channel 122.
The programme will revisit memorable AIM moments, feature nominee interviews and official music videos, and take viewers behind the scenes before the awards night.
CATS FM has also been named the Official Radio Partner for AIM25. Its Programme Manager, Haji Mohamad Fadzli Bin Daud, said the station hopes to bring the excitement of the event to listeners across the country.
"As a radio station that grew up alongside the Sarawak community, we understand how meaningful this moment is when the country's most prestigious music award show chooses Kuching as its host for the very first time," he said.
