Disney+ Hotstar Is Officially Launching In Malaysia On 1 June

The streaming platform will finally be available in Malaysia.

After months of anticipation, Disney+ Hotstar is finally going to be available in Malaysia

In a virtual press conference earlier today, 4 May, Walt Disney Malaysia announced that the platform will be made available to the Malaysian public starting 1 June on a subscription basis.

The service has a lot to offer, including some of our Disney favourites

With more than 800 films and 18,000 episodes, Disney+ Hotstar aims to entertain its fans.

Its library includes classics such as Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and more. Live adaptations of these classics will also be available.

Marvel and Star Wars fans will be glad to know that they can stream their favourite franchises' blockbuster movies as well.

Disney+ Original Series including The Mandalorian, WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the upcoming Loki will also be available

Fans of Disney and Pixar animations can look forward to their latest project, Luca, as it will be premiering exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar in June

Local content such as Ejen Ali, Upin & Ipin, Zombitopia, J2: J Retribusi, and more will also be available on the platform

Ahmad Izham Omar, the executive director of content and creative of Disney+ Hotstar in Southeast Asia said, "In addition to being able to bring amazing content from Disney's incredible brands from all around the world, it has been such a privilege to collaborate with homegrown studios and creators to bring Malaysian stories to Disney+ Hotstar and drive the growth of our creative community."

He added, "Through Disney+ Hotstar, we look forward to continuing our deep-rooted support of Malaysian-made content and shining a well-deserved spotlight on inspiring Malaysian stories, filmmakers, and talent."

For fans of local drama, you're in for a treat as the streaming platform will also feature TV3 and TV9 dramas

Top-rated local Primetime drama series such as TV3’s Single Terlalu Lama and Kekasih Hati Mr. Bodyguard will premiere first at 7am on the same day as the linear telecast.

The subscription service costs RM54.90 for three months

Alternatively, special packages are available with Astro, who is an official distributor.

The application is available for download on mobile and tablet on both Android and iOS platforms.
