Netflix has been coming out with some good action movies this year
Their latest is Project Power, which stars Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Dominique Fishback.
The action movie is about a drug called 'Power' that upon consumption, gives folks superpowers for five minutes. What superpower though? You won't know until you take it. A former soldier (Jamie Foxx) and a cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) team up to find the source of this pill to try and stop it.
1. Rodrigo Santoro's transformation took nine hours
If you have seen the movie, you probably know the 'transformation' we are referring to. After taking the Power pill, Rodrigo Santoro's character, Biggie, grows in size and turns into a grotesque looking creature.
In an exclusive interview with SAYS' movie community KLIPS, Santoro mentioned that no computer-generated imagery (CGI) was involved, and his transformation, led by Mike Marino, took nine hours to complete.
2. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's jersey in the movie pays tribute to New Orleans Saints' Steve Gleason
We posed the question to Gordon-Levitt and he goes on to tell us that New Orleans loves their football team 'The Saints' and Steve Gleason was a player.
Gleason had a tragic accident and was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2011. He became a national hero after spearheading efforts through the Team Gleason foundation to develop and provide technology to help ALS patients.
3. Robin wears a chain that says 'Rockin' Robin'
You probably may have missed it, but she does. 'Rockin' Robin' is also the name of a rock song from the late 50s. Her name also serves as a shout-out to Batman's sidekick. She references the dynamic duo too in the movie. Nice touch!
Not to mention, Gordon-Levitt - who plays Frank in the movie - was teased as Robin in The Dark Knight (2012) - the epic conclusion of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.
One heck of a name, eh!?
4. The radio DJ announces MC Robin Reilly's first single
At the end of the movie, as Jamie Foxx's character, Art, was driving down the highway, we hear the radio DJ announcing a new single from MC Robin Reilly. As it was a dream of Robin's to become a rapper, safe to say, after already having money to pay for her mum's operation, she did good and pursued her dream.
