Outrageous.

This is probably the most kan cheong anyone has ever been for something as accessible as movie tickets

Cinemas in Malaysia dropped advanced tickets for Avengers: Endgame around 8pm on Tuesday, 2 April, sending fans into a mad scramble to be one of the first people to watch the highly-anticipated movie.

You'd think we were trying to buy tickets for a Coldplay or Ed Sheeran concert!

With advanced tickets going like hotcakes, it's no surprise that some people have bought out prime seats on opening night for the purpose of reselling them

A quick search on Carousell show several sellers offering tickets to Avengers: Endgame in differing locations across Malaysia.

While most of them state that they have either bought tickets for the wrong location/time or are unable to make it for their purchased slot, a few entries stood out for their inflated prices:

For perspective, a ticket for MBO Cinemas' Big Screen hall in that particular location and time slot is priced at RM21 according to the chain's website. The seller above is selling two tickets for RM95, which is more than twice its regular price.

One entry in particular caught our eye - a seller is purportedly selling off tickets for opening night at a whopping RM700 per ticket!

Curious, we decided to initiate a chat with the seller to find out more. No way is anyone audacious enough to sell something as accessible and readily available as movie tickets for RM700 a pop... right?

We might have put too much hope in humanity, coz this guy sounds like he's for real:

It should be noted that while some tickets for Avengers: Endgame are indeed being put up for USD100 to USD1,000 and even up to USD9,199 a pair in the US, it is not known if anyone actually bought the outrageously priced tickets.

It didn't take much sleuthing to find out that the seats being offered (Row G) are actually the third row from the screen. In fact, there are still seats available in that particular time slot, albeit in the first two rows.

Honestly though, no matter how desperate you are to watch Avengers: Endgame, don't pay RM700 for a movie ticket. Please.
