A woman's tearful goodbye to her boyfriend has gone viral on social media, largely due to the unhinged responses she's received from Chinese netizens

The Ukrainian woman, known as @YourKris, shared a photo on China's social media platform Xiaohongshu, capturing her tearful farewell at the airport earlier this month.

To her surprise, the comments section quickly filled with messages written in 'Chinglish' — a mix of Chinese and English, resulting in awkward yet hilarious phrases.

Many offered her 'words of comfort' in a genuine and somewhat wholesome way, with some comments being direct translations from Chinese idioms or expressions

"You pretty, he ugly. You swan, he frog," wrote one person, referencing the Chinese proverb, "A toad that wants to eat swan meat." This saying essentially describes someone trying to date above their league.

Others were more blunt, urging her to "Abandon! Abandon him!" — a comment that garnered over 25,000 likes.

Some encouraged her to move on with advice like, "Cry what? Man like taxi, one go, next come."

But our favourites were these two gems:

"You are a beauty. He is a man."

"You are pretty. He is alive."

A screenshot of the post on X has garnered over 35,000 retweets and 324,000 likes since it was shared
