When it comes to cultural things, Malaysians may have differing opinions on numerous topics.

But if there's one thing most locals can agree on, it is that Malaysia has pretty amazing food... right?

Japanese YouTuber and TikToker Soichiro has been an increasingly familiar face on social media platforms, primarily for his videos where he interviews fellow Japanese people on the street to get their take on varying issues.

However, a recent clip from one of his interviews caused quite a stir on TikTok after he asked one provocative question — "Which country do you hate?"

While numerous individuals gave rather understandable answers, such as one man who said he wouldn't want to visit the South Pole because it would be too cold, others gave their honest takes on other locations around the globe.

One of the most captivating answers, and not entirely for a positive reason, came from a man who answered Malaysia. In explaining the reason for his answer, he stated that after visiting Malaysia one time in the past, he thought the food was "not good".

Gaining over 2.4 million views and over 170,000 likes on TikTok, many Malaysians soon discovered the clip and expressed their pure disbelief over the man's remark

"Food in Malaysia was amazing when I visited, I don't know what that guy was on," said one user, while another person asked which 'Malaysia' the man visited.

Adding some humour to the comments, another user jokingly said that maybe it was because the man had durian during his visit, accounting for the food not being good.

A few Malaysians even bantered about the possibility of the man having confused coconut milk as regular milk, using that as the potential reason as to why he was dissatisfied with the food here.

While most of the comments were all in good fun, a few Malaysians asked what food the man tried and where he ate to give such an opinion

"I'm not even mad if they don't like Malaysia because of something else, but FOOD? I honestly have to question where they went?!" asked one user.

Another TikToker also joked around, saying that the man probably tripped and fell to give such an answer.

A few non-Malaysians also spoke up for food in the country, saying that their experience was nothing like the man in the clip

"Some of the best food I had was in Malaysia," said one foreigner, while another said that Malaysian food is so good that he wants to come back here for more.

Another user, who said they were in Malaysia at the time of making the comment, said that they were eating so much good food, and was confused by the Japanese man's statement.

And if that wasn't obvious enough, even a Singaporean had something good to say about Malaysian food.

"I want to know which part of Malaysia he went to and what did he eat? Their food is the best!" they added.
