M'sian Garbage Bag Brand Goes Viral For Printing Inspirational Quotes On Its Packaging
Garbage bag packaging: You're not trash. You're worth it.

A video showing a garbage bag brand with different inspirational quotes printed on its packaging has gone viral on TikTok, leaving thousands of Malaysians in stitches
The video was uploaded by 26-year-old Muhamad Imran Bahrom, the owner of Burger Rabax, earlier this week.
"Why have I never realised this?" he writes in the caption of the video.
"'Ekonomi pembelian membawa maksima peluangnya (The purchasing economy offers a lot opportunities)'," Imran reads the copy on the 'large' plastic bag product.
"I just wanted to buy plastic bags, but each packaging has a different message.
"'Saiz cukup sesuai untuk kediaman membersihkan segala bahan buagan (This size is suitable for households to store all kinds of waste)'. Ok, this is just something generic.
"This comes with an inspirational quote: 'Pemikiran membawa perbuatan seseorang semua keputusan atas pendirian sendiri. Paling penting hati sendiri dapat dilalui dengan ikhlas dan jujur (Our thinking is responsible for all our decisions based on our stance. Most importantly, our hearts can be filled with sincerity and honesty).'," he reads while laughing.
The video doesn't end there. More inspirational quotes on garbage bag packaging await Imran.
"'Setiap insan menaruh harapan mencari keuntungan yang lebih, paling penting rezeki yang bersih diparolehi cukup bermakna buat seumur hidup kita (Everyone hopes to make extra money, but the most important thing is to earn a clean living through meaningful channels throughout our entire lives).'
"Why do they print these on garbage bag packaging?" a confused yet intrigued Imran asks.
"Pening (I'm perplexed). 'Kedudukan seorang dinilai oleh masyarakat lebih baik daripada penilian sendiri, penonjolan diri dan kerjaya lebih penting daripada menghebohkan hal orang lain (A person's social standing is judged better by society than themselves; a person's prominence and career are more important than making a fuss about other people's affairs).'
"Am I buying garbage bags or buying inspirational quotes?" says Imran, before asking himself which packaging should he buy.
Speaking to SAYS, Imran said the video was filmed at Hwa Thai Supermarket in Taman Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru on Wednesday, 2 August
He said he ended up purchasing the one with yellow packaging, on which the quote about earning a clean living is printed.
"I have a hobby of looking for strange things. At the time of the incident, I wanted to buy garbage bags for my business. We normally go for cheap plastic bags that have great thickness. By chance, I stumbled upon those quotes," said the burger stall owner in Segamat, Johor.
SAYS has reached out to the company producing the garbage bags to inquire about the reasons for including those quotes on its packaging, but has yet to receive a response.
At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 632,000 views and 48,700 likes
"Next time, I will come to the garbage bag aisle for a 'healing' session," a TikTok user said in jest, while another added, "Buying plastic bags is becoming increasingly challenging. We need to select the one with a quote that resonates with us the most, while ensuring it's the right size for our needs."
