Malaysians React To Postponement Of SPM To February 2021 With Memes
Hang in there, Batch 03.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that public examinations for Form Five and Form Six students will be postponed again
The ministry had announced earlier in June that Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations would be from 6 January to 9 February 2021.
However, on Sunday, 8 November, Education Minister Dr Radzi Jidin announced that SPM, Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM), and Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) will be postponed to 22 February 2021.
Meanwhile, Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) for Form Six students will now be held from 8 March 2021.
The announcement caught many students, teachers, and parents off guard, and has drawn mixed reactions on social media
"Got time to study, can score straight As," said a Facebook user who welcomed the delay.
However, a student begged to differ, saying, "Everyone keeps saying that Batch 03 can get straight As for SPM because it has been delayed again, but they don't know how we struggle with online classes, distractions, [and] even stress."
An STPM candidate who worried about his future said," [What about] my degree? I have lost hope, and feel lazy to study due to the stress."
"The exams have been getting postponed since semester two. All my friends were sad to hear the news, some immediately cried and others wanted to quit Form Six," he tweeted.
