Malaysia's Biggest Outdoor 'Minion'-Themed Event Is Happening In Penang Right Now

The Minions are taking over Penang!
For the next ten weeks, the adorable yellow creatures will be invading Padang Dataran Pemuda Merdeka in conjunction with the state's Hari Raya and Merdeka celebrations.
Dubbed the biggest outdoor 'Despicable Me 3' event in Malaysia, you'll be greeted by this intimidating 15-foot tall Minion the moment you step onto the field
Tbh he's too cute to be intimidating. :p
Once you're done taking pics with the giant Minion, walk into the inflatable tunnel arch for plenty of selfie ops with the even more Minions and the characters of 'Despicable Me'
At a later date, from 1 July onwards, there will be a massive dome hall housing a 'Despicable Me 3' gallery - inclusive of a Penang-inspired corner - as well as official merchandise for visitors to bring home.
Oh, and check out this 32-foot long Minion mural that's made entirely of FLOWERS!
Once you're done taking photos with the attractions, grab a beanbag and watch the first two 'Despicable Me' movies under the stars

30 June to 3 September
Despicable Me: Every Friday, 8pm to 10pm

TIP: Bring along your own snacks as well as picnic mats or mini stools, in case there aren't enough beanbags.
The Minion "pop-up playground" is currently ongoing until 3 September 2017 at Padang Dataran Pemuda Merdeka, Butterworth. DETAILS:
