A video of a kind-hearted uncle handing out roses to passersby on Valentine's Day at a serviced apartment in Kuala Lumpur has gone viral
TikTok user @ainafrz__ shared a wholesome, 13-second video of an uncle handing her a rose in front of WULI Café at Shamelin Star Residence on Friday, 14 February.
With a few stalks in the one hand, the uncle can be heard saying, "Happy Valentine, take care," as he passes the rose to her.
Speaking to SAYS, @ainafrz___ said she was on her way home from school when she noticed people holding red roses
She later spotted the uncle handing out the roses to everyone who passed by the café.
"I quickly grabbed my phone and recorded while also hoping that the uncle will give me the roses too HAHA. I was with my boyfriend at that time and he got one too! I was so excited and I found it very heartwarming," she said.
"It is a real, fresh rose. When I [walked by again] to get my dinner, I saw the uncle had brought out a huge empty flower bouquet wrapping," she recounted.
@ainafrz___ shared that she returned to the café a couple days later hoping to spot the uncle, but could not find him.
"Some people [in the comments section] said that the café isn't his," she said.
While the identity of the uncle and his motivation remain a mystery, his act of kindness has touched many. The heartwarming exchange quickly went viral, garnering over 428,000 views on TikTok.
Netizens shared that they also received roses from this mysterious "Valentine's Day Uncle"
A fellow schoolmate wrote, "I got [a rose] from this uncle too after on my way from class! It wasn't just the girls, the uncle also gave out roses to the boys as well. They were really surprised."
"This uncle gave my friends flowers yesterday. This café is a bingsu shop that shares space with a phone accessories store," another commented.
Meanwhile, netizens are calling for him to be "protected at all costs", with some even admitting they would be moved to tears if they received a rose from him.
Another netizen shared a lovely story about the uncle's kindness, recalling how he helped her when she was sick. "This uncle is so nice," she commented. "He was my neighbour, and when I had COVID, he gave me cough medicine."
