A father was delighted to discover that his daughter had borrowed the very same book he had read 34 years ago during his primary school days

Sharing the heartwarming coincidence on Facebook, Jacky Tan Kok Leong revealed that both of his daughters are now attending his alma mater, SJK(C) Perempuan Klang, in Selangor.

Tan explained that his younger daughter had recently brought home Siri Legenda-Legenda Malaysia: Si Andopal, a collection of Malaysian legends.

To his surprise, it was the very same book he had borrowed as a Primary 3 student in 1991.

He posted a photo of the library book, which included its record card displaying his entry on 15 May 1991

"My second daughter borrowed a Malay book that I read when I was in third grade. What a coincidence to have this book back in my hands after 34 years.

"I'll cherish this wonderful fate and read it again," he wrote.

The story charmed many netizens, who shared their amazement at the serendipitous event

"It seems like people and books are connected by fate too!" one user commented.

Another joked, "The real question is how students at your alma mater have kept up their love for reading!"

Meanwhile, one netizen marvelled at the book's durability: "It has lasted 34 years without breaking? Different students borrow it every year, and yet, the cover and binding are still intact?"
