PJ Comedy Fest 2026 is making its debut this July, bringing together 29 comedians, 11 rising performers, and five days of comedy spread across nine shows
Taking place from 29 July to 2 August 2026 at The Square, Jaya One, the festival is set to turn the space into a full-on comedy hub.
It's also shaping up to be one of Malaysia's biggest multi-language comedy festivals yet, with performances in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and Tamil
You can expect a mix of stand-up, improv, storytelling, and more experimental comedy formats across the programme.
A major highlight is the Comedy Gala, featuring a stacked lineup of local favourites including Joanne Kam, Kavin Jay, Shamaine Othman, Andrew Netto, Rizal Van Geyzel, Farid Azmeir, K-Shao, Jasmine Rajah, Brian Tan, Prakash Daniel, Keren Bala Devan, alongside improv troupe Pinball Monkeys.
Beyond the big names, the festival is also spotlighting emerging comedians and younger performers, giving audiences a chance to catch the next wave of local talent early.
It will wrap up with a family-friendly finale: Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream by EM Drama
The festival marks a new chapter for The Square at Jaya One, a long-time PJ venue known for theatre, comedy showcases, open-mic nights and cultural events.
Now under DeStage's direction (with Kam Productions involved), it continues its focus on live entertainment with a stronger push for fresh programming and local talent.
