Sepang International Circuit will be hosting the rescheduled 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix this 2 to 4 October, marking the first F1 race on our home turf since 2017
If you're making the trip down to Sepang or travelling in from out of state, the best way to avoid the brutal highway traffic is to head down early or stay an extra day or two after the chequered flag drops.
Whether you're taking a long weekend to gear up for the noise or looking to unwind once the track goes quiet, here are six fun activities to do around Sepang before or after race day:
1. SplashMania Waterpark: Kick off the weekend early with a splash
Best for: Thursday or Friday morning before the track action peaks.
Located in Gamuda Cove (just a short drive from the circuit), SplashMania is a solid pre-race spot if you arrive early to beat the weekend rush.
The 18-acre waterpark features 39 slides and attractions, including a virtual reality waterslide and a massive wave pool, ideal for cooling down in the heat before diving into the intense heat of the grandstands.

2. Tear up the dirt on a dirt kart or ATV off-road adventure
Best for: Saturday morning for some high-octane fun.
Just a stone's throw from the F1 circuit, you can find off-road ranches like Sepang Bay 13 or Sepang Eco Challenge Park in Kota Warisan.
You can rent dirt karts, ATVs, or buggies and tackle muddy trails and jungle obstacle courses. It's muddy, loud, and incredibly fun.

3. Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands: Reconnect with nature after the noise
Best for: Post-race Monday recovery.
After three straight days of roaring V6 turbo-hybrids, your ears (and mind) will need a break.
This 1,111-acre sanctuary in Dengkil is the ultimate spot to decompress. You can take a relaxed safari tour to spot hippos and crocodiles, document over 210 native bird species, or just enjoy a quiet walk around the lotus lakes before heading back to reality.

4. HL Dragon Fruit Eco Farm: Grab a unique local bite
Best for: A road-trip pitstop on your way to Sepang.
Sepang is renowned as one of Malaysia's primary dragon fruit agricultural hubs. If you're driving in on Thursday or Friday afternoon, stop by this eco-farm to pick your own fresh fruit straight from the vines.
Don't leave without trying their famous dragon fruit nasi lemak, fresh fruit smoothies, or homemade dragon fruit bread.

5. Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA: Stock up on gear and beat the heat
Best for: Killing time on Thursday afternoon or Monday before your flight or drive home.
Located practically next to KLIA and minutes from the track, Mitsui Outlet Park is the go-to indoor pitstop.
If you need comfortable walking shoes for the circuit, off-season streetwear, or just a heavily air-conditioned spot to grab lunch and relax before checking into your hotel, this mega outlet has you covered.

6. Pantai Bagan Lalang: Feast on coastal seafood with the crew
Best for: A late-night dinner after Friday practice or Sunday's final race.
Skip the generic fast food and head to the coast for a proper feast. Pantai Bagan Lalang is famous for its seaside ikan bakar spots like Senandung Malam Seafood.
Gather your motorsport crew, pick out fresh local catches, and enjoy grilled fish and sotong served with spicy, lime-infused sambal belacan right by the beach.
